Create a Livable Outdoor Space by Adding a Deck

Outdoor livable space is a popular trend. You can set up an outdoor seating area, outdoor kitchen or outdoor dining space. This allows you to entertain guests outside or host a larger party than what your home can hold. This trend inspired my wife and I to build our own outdoor livable space. However, one of the biggest decisions we faced was what the base for our space would be. We could use concrete, lay pavers or construct a deck. After doing a lot of research, we decided on a deck. It was a challenging decision, but we are pleased with the outcome. In fact, we are so happy we decided to start this blog and help educate other people on decks and livable spaces. Learn the benefits, learn the downside, learn how to care for your and learn what kinds of wood are best for an outdoor deck.

5 Signs Your Garage Door Needs Repaired

by Kelly Simmons

Even though you use your garage door every day, you probably do not think twice about it. However, your garage door can wear down over time, so it is important to inspect it regularly. If you pay attention to how your garage door operates, you will know when it needs fixed. Here are five signs your garage door needs to be repaired.

It Is Making Strange Noises

It is true that garage doors can't stay completely quiet. However, if your garage door has been making excessive creaking or banging noises lately, there is like something wrong with the spring or opener. You should definitely get your garage door checked out by a professional before it gets worse.

It Is Not Responding Quickly Enough

A good working garage door should respond to your commands within a second or two.  If you notice that it has been taking a long time to open or close, there is likely a problem with the opener or door itself. Have a garage door professional look at your garage door as soon as possible.

Your Energy Bills Are Higher

Your garage door can use up more energy than you think. If your energy bills have been higher lately but you have not used more electricity, your garage door may be the problem. If a garage door is older and worn down, it will not operate as efficiently.

It Is Not On Its Tracks

A garage door should always operate within its tracks. If it has come off the tracks, there is likely some damage. A trained garage door repairman can inspect your garage door and repair the necessary parts.

It Does Not Open Or Close

If your garage door can't even open or close by itself, it is pretty obvious that something is wrong with it. There is likely a malfunction with the door itself. When you test your garage door again, make sure that no object is blocking it from opening. If it still can't open, it is definitely time to call a professional.

Does your garage door display any one of these signs? If the answer is yes, you should contact a garage door professional (such as one from Girard's Garage Door Services) as soon as possible. Getting your garage door repaired will cost you some extra money, but it is a necessary thing to do. If you wait too long to get your garage door fixed, it will just get worse.
