Create a Livable Outdoor Space by Adding a Deck

Outdoor livable space is a popular trend. You can set up an outdoor seating area, outdoor kitchen or outdoor dining space. This allows you to entertain guests outside or host a larger party than what your home can hold. This trend inspired my wife and I to build our own outdoor livable space. However, one of the biggest decisions we faced was what the base for our space would be. We could use concrete, lay pavers or construct a deck. After doing a lot of research, we decided on a deck. It was a challenging decision, but we are pleased with the outcome. In fact, we are so happy we decided to start this blog and help educate other people on decks and livable spaces. Learn the benefits, learn the downside, learn how to care for your and learn what kinds of wood are best for an outdoor deck.

4 Tips To Prevent Problems With Pole-Mounted Transformers

by Kelly Simmons

If you have decided that you like the idea of pole-mounted transformers over pad-mounted transformers, then you might have checked out some of the benefits of pole-mounted transformers. You might still be concerned that you will have problems with your transformers, though. Of course, problems can happen with any type of transformer, but you can help minimize the chances of a problem with these tips.

1. Be Mindful of the Weight of Your Transformers

Pole-mounted transformers come in different weights, depending on their size. If they are too heavy, then there is the risk of them falling from the pole that they are mounted on. Make sure that you avoid buying transformers that are too big for your poles. You may want to opt for multiple smaller transformer mounted on separate poles versus big, heavy transformers so that you do not have to worry too much about the weight issue.

2. Make Sure Poles are Installed Properly

Additionally, it is important to make sure that the poles are installed properly. If your poles are not already installed, then you should make sure that they are buried far enough in the ground. If they are already installed, then you will want to check them to make sure that they are securely in place. You may also want to pour concrete around your poles to help you make sure that your poles are nice and secure. This can help you prevent your poles from moving around or falling over as time goes by or if serious weather affects your area.

3. Ensure Transformers are Mounted As They Should Be

In addition to making sure that the poles are installed properly, you will also need to make sure that the transformers are installed properly as well. You probably will not want to mount the pole-mounted transformers yourself; not only can it be dangerous for you to do so, but you could make a mistake and not mount your transformers as securely as they should be. Hiring a company that specializes in installing transformers will help you make sure that the job is done right.

4. Check Transformers and Poles Regularly

It is critical to check your transformers and poles from time to time to check for problems. Make sure that the transformers are still mounted securely and that no components of the mounting system need to be replaced. Additionally, make sure that the poles are in good condition and that they are still nice and secure in the ground when performing these checks.
